Bushmills introduces World Wood series featuring travel retail-exclusive single malt whiskeys Bushmills Irish Whiskey, part of the Proximo Spirits portfolio, launched two single malts as part of its World Wood series. The travel retail-exclusive collection, featuring a 15 Year Old and 21 Year Old. Bushmills Master Blender Alex Thomas said: “We searched the four corners of the world to find the right cask to bring back to our corner in Northern Ireland – from Jerez in Spain to Kentucky in the US and Marsala in Sicily.” Thomas worked with a global network of wine & spirit producers and expert cooperages to select the cask combinations. The 15 Year Old single malt is aged in a combination of ex-bourbon first- and second-fill American oak casks. The 46% ABV expression highlights the floral and fruity Bushmills character and features bold bourbon flavours. The amber gold spirit matured at the Old Bushmills Distillery for 15 years and its taste is a combination of clove, toffee apple, honeyed vanilla and sweet apricot. The 21 Year Old single malt is matured in ex-bourbon casks and oloroso sherry butts for a minimum of 18 years before finishing for three years in first-fill Marsala wine casks from Sicily. The hand-selected barriques are seasoned with Marsala Fine Ambra Semisecco Doc and then lightly toasted to deliver lighter, fruitier notes.Bottled at 46% ABV, the 21 Year Old’s flavour profile has notes of ginger and stone fruits together with hazelnut, chocolate and oak.

Koskenkorva wins gold medal at the vodka masters 2023 Despite ups and downs, vodka is still one of the world’s most popular spirits. As the judges discovered in The Vodka Masters 2023, the reason for this is quality liquid made with care and passion. This year’s Vodka Masters headed to the Hippodrome in London, where three panels of judges were tasked with dishing out medals to worthy entrants. Koskenkorva Vodka won a gold medal, enjoyed for its “delicate sweetness and hints of white chocolate and earthy spice”, the “sweet and earthy”.

Italian apéritif Campari has revealed an ‘evolutionary redesign’ of its bottle, inspired by its home city of Milan. The new bottle has been created as a ‘visual ode to Milano’, taking aesthetic cues from each element of the Italian city’s culture. The Campari bottle has been changing shape and evolving alongside Milano, drawing continuous inspiration from the city, since its creation in 1860. The vibrant iconic apéritif was first sold on draft in vats and served in decanters, before adding a brand label in 1888 and finally featuring the brand logo that is recognisable today in 1912. The Campari bottle has featured its birthplace of Milano since 2006. First, it was displayed on the label of each bottle, before being decorated with elegant, embossed details that “highlight its charm” in 2013. Then, in 2016, the brand refined the label “to bring to the foreground Campari’s authenticity, modernity, and sleek design”, affirming its “credibility and roots” and embracing the vibrancy of Milan. Now in 2023, Campari has introduced a ‘significant development’ in the bottle’s design, which puts Milan “at the heart” of every bottle. This bottle redesign, the first for the brand in 10 years, aims to be a visual homage to the city. As part of Compari Group’s commitment to reach its sustainability target of achieving zero net emissions by 2050, new sustainability criteria in its packaging design and development are being introduced. As such, the company has assessed and measured the new Campari bottle against three criteria: weight optimisation, maximisation of recycled content, and full recyclability of the materials. All efforts have been placed in balancing premium and innovative design with the reduction of environmental impacts Over the next months you will see the roll out of the new bottle in our markets.

Turkey is preparing for an early start of the tourist season in 2021. Most hotels are opening early February 2021 to welcome their guests to have a better spread and avoid peak seasoning. Turkey is open for tourism with new restrictions and entry requirements from December 28. All visitors to Turkey must present a negative PCR COVID-19 test before boarding a flight. This entry requirement will be in place from December 28 until March. Commercial airlines continue to resume their operation on a country-by-country basis but new rules have been recently applied due to the undeniable second coronavirus wave. Turk authorities have stated they are not planning to reintroduce a full lockdown but urged citizens and visitors to wear facemasks at all times when outside home. Additionally, visitors arriving from UK, Denmark or South Africa must also undergo a mandatory quarantine for at least 7 days until a result from a second test.
